Newton Abbot Museum

Newton Abbot Museum.

Schools and groups are very welcome in the museum. They can offer guided tours and a ‘behind-the-scenes’ view of the museum stores to enhance your visit.

The museum is keen to work with schools to ensure the visit is useful and meaningful to all involved. For example tours of the museum can be tailored toward an aspect of the curriculum and can be combined with activities in the community rooms for a varied learning experience.

Brick ideas have teamed up with Newton Abbot Museum to offer a range of workshops for Primary schools which are run in the Museum to enhance the Childrens learning. The workshops link to the displays in the Museum. The workshops include, Bridge building, Train building, WW1 & 2 Tank building.  But any of the workshops on the schools page can be run at the Newton Abbot Museum.

Highweek Primary School

Highweek Primary School Year 6 classes came for a visit to the Museum, after looking around at the Brunel and Railways Displays we headed up stairs and looked at bridge design and as a class we built 2 bridges approximately 1-2 Meters long. We then designed trains. We explored different gauges of track. The children built and tested their trains across the bridge.
